The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Lagos State Command, has deployed a total of 2,150 officers and personnel across the state ahead of the Sallah celebration to strengthen security, safeguard lives, and protect critical national assets and infrastructure.
The command said the large-scale deployment is also aimed at preventing vandalism and other criminal activities before, during, and after the festive period.
Lagos State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr Adedotun Keshinro, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, noting that the proactive deployment became necessary due to the anticipated influx of visitors and travellers into Lagos during the holiday period.
He explained that the command had developed operational measures designed to curb crime and ensure the protection of residents, property, and strategic facilities across the state.
“All personnel across the various formations of the command have been directed to bring the necessary operational focus to bear in safeguarding critical infrastructure, including strategic installations, rights of way, oil pipelines, religious centres, recreational facilities, parks and gardens, as well as other national assets within Lagos State,” Keshinro said.
He further instructed officers to remain on heightened alert while discharging their duties, urging them to uphold professionalism and respect for the rights of citizens throughout the operation.
Keshinro also extended his felicitations to Muslim faithful on the occasion of the Sallah celebration, encouraging them to reflect on the values of sacrifice, devotion, compassion, and faith as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim.
He, however, appealed to residents of the state to use the festive period to pray for national unity, peace, and continued progress in Nigeria.
