The Peoples Democratic Party candidate in the Ekiti governorship election, Dr Wole Oluyede, has taken a swipe at the ongoing one kilometer overhead bridge embarked upon by the Governor Biodun Oyebanji government, describing it as “over head fake”.
Speaking on Fresh FM, Ado Ekiti, Okuyede described the project as ‘misplaced priority’.
The one hour live program was anchored by a seasoned journalist, Jide Ogunluyi, who doubles as the General Manager of the radio station.
Oluyede while reacting to a question on the cargo airport projectz described the airport as an airstrip which is far from what Ekiti State government projected.
Speaking on the overhead bridge that is expected to beautify Ekiti, he said, “What purpose does it serve ? The bridge has divided the center of Ado Ekiti into two. He (Oyebanji) should have opened the place, make people to park in a circular road for the greater Ekiti. Somebody coming from Itawure should be able to drive fast to Otun or Emure and not a kilometer flyover bridge that terminates just like that”.
Talking about the large turnout of Ikere Ekiti people at Tuesday’s restoration rally, he attributed it to his acceptance by his kinsmen. He maintained that the people of Ikere Ekiti are gunning for the position of governor and has rejected deputy.
Speaking further, he said, “Government ought to have done better to create enabling environment like good road network, safety of people, health sector and security. I am going to do things differently through the creation of wealth. Everybody is depending on government but we must change the narrative”.
