Social media platform, X is set to make its recommendation algorithm publicly accessible within the next seven days, its owner, Elon Musk, has said.
Musk described the move as a step toward greater transparency in how posts and advertisements are displayed to users on the platform.
The disclosure will include the complete code behind X’s content and advertising recommendation system, with regular updates scheduled thereafter.
According to Musk, this will not be a one-time release. The company plans to update and share the algorithm every four weeks, accompanied by detailed developer notes explaining any modifications over time.
“This initiative will allow the public and developers to gain a clearer understanding of how content is ranked and distributed on X,” Musk said in his post.
“The repeated releases, alongside thorough documentation, are intended to provide insight into how X’s recommendation systems evolve.
“We will make the new X algorithm, including all code used to determine what organic and advertising posts are recommended to users, open source in seven days,” he added.
Musk, however, did not specify the precise rationale behind the decision to release the algorithm, leaving observers to speculate on the timing and strategic intent of the move.
