Liverpool legend, Jamie Carragher, has identified Unai Emery as the top contender for the Manchester United coaching job.
Currently managing Aston Villa, Emery’s team is set to clash with United in the Premier League at Old Trafford this Sunday.
The Red Devils are actively seeking a permanent manager at the end of the season.
In his column for The Telegraph, Carragher stated, “Unai Emery should be viewed as the frontrunner for the Manchester United managerial position as he heads to Old Trafford this weekend.”
Carragher also noted that Emery is often seen as an “overachiever” at clubs striving to reach the elite, while those with bigger aspirations regard him as an underachiever.
Emery has a rich coaching background, having led teams such as Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, Villarreal, and Sevilla in the past.
