Liverpool has made contact with former Real Madrid manager, Xabi Alonso.
According to Diario AS, Alonso has already received the first call from Liverpool despite the fact that he is now resting, and the response has been positive.
Alonso was recently sacked as manager of Real Madrid and was replaced by Alvaro Arbeloa.
The 44-year-old has also coached Bayer Leverkusen in the past and was successful during his time at the Bundesliga club.
Alonso has played for Liverpool during his playing days as a professional footballer, and it is yet to be seen if he will say ‘yes’ to coach the Reds.
Liverpool’s current manager is Arne Slot, but the Dutchman is under pressure at Anfield due to the club’s performances so far this season.
Slot’s side are currently in the fourth position on the Premier League table and are technically out of the race for the title this season, having won it last term.
