The 46-year-old was left in severe pain following a collision with an opponent while playing for Old Boys in Uruguays over-40s Liga Universitaria. Following the brutal fall, Forlan was quickly taken to the emergency room, where he was diagnosed with three broken ribs and a partially-collapsed lung. According to Referi, the former international player required an additional medical procedure to have his lung drained after it filled with fluid. Despite the severity of his injuries, Forlan reportedly told those close to him that he believed there was no bad intention from the opponent involved in the collision.
