A former Mayor of Blanco, Texas, in the United States, Mike Arnold, has challenged the Sultan of Sokoto and Chairman of the Northern Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, to prove that he is not the architect of Christian genocide in Nigeria.
Arnold who is the founder of Africa Arise International with the goal of raising awareness and action against violent persecution of Christians in sub-Saharan Africa, was responding to a statement credited to the Suitan where he refuted claims that Christians were being killed by Muslim extremists especially in northern Nigeria.
The Sultan had, while speaking at the General Assembly of the Northern Traditional Rulers’ Council held in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State on Tuesday, dismissed claims that Christians in the country were facing religious genocide.
In his speech, the Sultan emphasized that there was no genocide against Christians in northern Nigeria, describing such allegations as false and divisive.
“From time immemorial, Christians and Muslims have lived as brothers in the North. These allegations are false and are merely aimed at sowing discord among the inseparable faithful,” the revered religious leader had insisted.
But in a statement posted on his X handle on Friday, Arnold called out the Sultan, urging him to prove that he is not actually the brain behind the killing of Christians in Nigeria.
In the post, the ex-US Mayor said:
“I challenge the Sultan of Sokoto to prove he’s not the architect of this genocide.”
Continuing, Arnold wrote:
“I challenge the Suitan to prove that he did not, while serving the Taliban in Afghanistan, connect with and recruit AlQaida and other international terrorists groups to Nigeria — where he has provided them safe haven, vast resources and unlimited Christian blood to feed their bloodlust.
“That he is not architect of the reprehensible scheme to advance his sultanate’s long running jihad to establish his demonic sharia death cult over the nation and around the world.
“That he’s not personally enriched by the sale of blood minerals looted from under the killing fields.
“That he’s not in collusion with the Nigerian government.
“Might as well start trying to do this, in preparation for his forthcoming fraudulent defense case in international court for crimes against humanity.”
