Bashir Ahmad, former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has reacted to the the result of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, in the just concluded FCT area council election.

In a post on his verified X handle on Sunday, Ahmad said no serious electoral calculation can ignore the Hausa voting community.

DAILY POST reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, declared Christopher Maikalangu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as the elected chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC.

Maikalangu polled 40,295 votes to beat his closest rival, Paul Ogidi of African Democratic Congress, ADC, who scored 12,109 votes.

Reacting , the former presidential aide said, “In AMAC, political reality is clear and no serious electoral calculation can ignore the Hausa voting community, one of the largest, most organized and politically conscious populations in the city.

“Attempting to contest an election without engaging, respecting and building trust within this community is just a strategic miscalculation, a political suicide and a subtle insult to a critical voting bloc whose influence continues to shape outcomes across wards and polling units in this city.”
