The Federal Government says it is intensifying efforts to secure the release of schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oyo and Borno states, describing their rescue as a top national priority.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, made this known during a security briefing in Abuja, saying the government is treating the incident with urgency.

He said the kidnappings are being viewed as a serious threat to Nigeria’s education system and national future, adding that security agencies have been fully deployed for rescue operations under the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to him, the administration remains committed to ensuring the safe return of all victims and bringing those responsible to justice.

“The President has made it clear that no child belongs in captivity and that no effort will be spared,” he said.

The minister added: “To the families whose children and loved ones remain in captivity, I convey the assurances of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has also directed a robust response from security agencies as efforts continue to track down the abductors.
