Fights break out at APC Lagos West senatorial primary in Alimosho

At least 15 persons were injured in the fights that erupted during the All Progressives Congress (APC) West Senatorial District primaries in Alimosho local government area of Lagos on Monday.

The Officer in Charge of the Lagos State Police Command Tactical Team, Egbeda, Aduroja Olurotimi, confirmed the incident to journalists in Ikeja.

Olurotimi said the injured persons had been rushed to the hospital for medical attention.

He said the clash involved members of rival factions within the APC, adding that police officers and other sister security agencies swiftly moved to the scene to restore normalcy.

He noted that no arrest had been made at the time of filing this report.

The disruption occurred at about 1:00 p.m. in the presence of security operatives.

An eyewitness told journalists that fracas broke out among factional members when the members were called to cast their votes with chairs, glass windows and doors shattered at the Alimosho Local Government Area secretariat, the venue of the election.

Following the disruption, some party members sustained serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital while others scampered to safety.
