
Men of Oyo State Fire Service have rescued a 35-year-old man in Igbeti town.
The man whose name has not been revealed was rescued when fire ravaged a petroleum station at Bon-kay Petroleum Station, along Kara Area Kishi Road in Igbeti on Sunday.
It was learnt that a Volvo truck loaded with 45,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petroleum, was engulfed with fire while transloading its content.
Chairman, Oyo State Fire Service, Hon Maroof Akinwande confirmed the incident.
Akinwande, in a statement made available to DAILY POST Monday evening said, “Upon arrival, it was a Volvo truck with registration number KSB 300XB loaded with 45,000 litres of premium motor spirit (PMS) engulfed by flames and smoke.
“A man of about 35 years was rescued alive and conveyed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The fire was a result of sparks during the transloading of the petroleum content to the underground tanks.
“The fire affected the tanker trailer and part of the petrol station, while properties worth millions of naira were protected against imminent fire by the fire service”.
