Gunmen on Sunday night attacked police officers along the Amansea–Ndiora–Ndiukwuenu–Awa–Ufuma Road in Orumba South Local Area of Anambra State and killed two officers.
Eyewitnesses told journalists on Monday that the slain officers were returning from an assignment when they came under attack from the hoodlum
The state Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, confirmed the incident to journalists.

He said the command had already commenced investigations into the attack.
“A team of police officers was returning from an assignment when they were ambushed by armed men who opened fire on them. In the process, we lost two officers.
“We have been working on the matter since Sunday night and intensified efforts to track down the perpetrators,” the CP stated.
