The Katsina State Hisbah Board (KTSHB), Dandume Division, has arrested several suspects accused of mixing palm oil with water and selling it to unsuspecting customers in Dandume Local Government Area.
The operation was carried out on Saturday, April 4, 2026, under the leadership of the Officer in Charge of Operations, Malam Aliyu Ahmad.
According to a statement issued by Abdul Baki Mustapha of the unit, Hisbah operatives caught the suspects in the act of allegedly adulterating the product as part of what was described as fraudulent business practices.
“They were arrested while engaging in this unwholesome business,” the statement said.
The suspects are currently in the custody of the Hisbah Board, while investigations are ongoing to determine the full extent of their activities.
The board also used the opportunity to warn others involved in similar practices to desist immediately, urging traders to fear God and conduct their businesses honestly.
“Those involved in such acts should be cautious and repent before it is too late, as they will face the consequences once arrested,” the statement warned.
The Hisbah reaffirmed its commitment to monitoring markets and protecting consumers from deceptive practices.
