Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has disclosed that he is awaiting final approval from the Federal Government to commence operations of his proposed security outfit, “Iru Ekun Security Network,” aimed at combating kidnappers, terrorists and other criminal groups operating in forests across the South-West.
Igboho made this known on Monday in a statement issued in Ibadan, where he also pledged readiness to comply with the newly introduced executive order by the Oyo State Government regulating the activities of private and community-based security organisations.
The activist stated that all documentation and registration requirements for the proposed security outfit had already been submitted to the appropriate federal authorities and expressed optimism that approval would soon be granted.
His comments came days after Governor Seyi Makinde signed Executive Order 001 of 2026 into law to regulate associations, groups and organisations involved in security and allied services within Oyo State.
The governor had explained that the directive was introduced to ensure that vigilante groups and similar security organisations operate under a clearly defined legal framework capable of promoting peace, accountability and lawful operations.
Makinde also noted that the order became necessary because of increasing security concerns across communities and the rising number of informal groups engaging in security activities without proper coordination.
Reacting to the development, Igboho assured the state government of his willingness to operate within the provisions of the new regulations.
“We have submitted all the required documents for our registered security firm, ‘Iru Ekun Security Network’, and are only waiting for the Federal Government’s approval, which will be granted soon.
“We are absolutely ready to collaborate with the Police, Department of State Service, Nigeria Army, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and other relevant stakeholders in the security sector to flush out terrorists, kidnappers, bandits, and other hoodlums, who are threatening the peace and safety of our people, most especially in the rural communities.”

The Yoruba nation activist also commended President Bola Tinubu for ongoing efforts to strengthen security across the country, particularly in the South-West region.
“It is obvious that President Bola Tinubu’s administration is resolutely committed to tackling criminalities not only in the South-West but also in all other regions plagued by insecurity.
“Besides, I want to state that we are also ready to comply with the new Executive Order issued by Governor Seyi Makinde to regulate the activities of private security concerns. We are ready to support and cooperate with measures aimed at strengthening the security and peace in Oyo and other states in Yorubaland.
“Without peace and security, healthy socioeconomic developments cannot thrive, most especially in the rural communities which remain the hub of agricultural production critical to the nation’s food security and means of livelihood for farmers.”
Igboho’s remarks come amid growing concerns over rising incidents of kidnappings, attacks on rural communities and increasing insecurity across parts of the South-West, particularly in forested areas linking Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, Osun and neighbouring states.
