The Imo State Police Commissioner,  CP Aboki Danjuma has issued a firm directive banning all tactical teams operating under the command from using unmarked vehicles, including mini-buses and tricycles popularly called Keke during patrol operation across the State.

In a press statement issued by the spokesperson of the command, DSP Henry Okoye, he stated that the new directive followed numerous complaints of harassment, intimidation, and extortion by some tactical officers operating in an unapproved vehicles while on routine patrols.

He stated that the CP described the act as grossly unprofessional, and warned that any team found violating the new directive will face immediate sanctions, adding that Commanders of such teams will be vicariously held liable.

Okoye stated that the Command reiterates its commitment to upholding professionalism, accountability, and ethical policing standards in line with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police.

He said that all units were directed to comply strictly and members of the public were encouraged to report any violations.
