Insecurity: ‘Your effort not good enough, quit’ – Rep Agbedi tells Tinubu

The House of Representatives Minority Leader, Fred Agbedi, has challenged President Bola Tinubu to quit if he can no longer provide leadership and security to Nigerians.

Agbedi said Tinubu’s effort in providing leadership and security for Nigerians is not good enough, hence he should quit.

The lawmaker made the remark on Channels Television’s Politics Today, while explaining why he called for Tinubu’s resignation.

He said: “When Tinubu said from Lagos that Jonathan should resign what did you say? That is the duty and beauty of democracy. The beauty of it is that if you are not able to give leadership to your nation, if your government fails, both those in the minority and those who are free citizens of the nation have the right to say you either perform or quit.

“Let me remind you that in the eight Assembly in which I was a member, right on the floor of the House of Representatives, I rose and in my contribution to a particular motion I did say that President Buhari’s government has failed and I went further to say that the lives of Nigerians is equal to one minute silent.

“So what did we say today, you either give leadership or you quit, is his best good enough?

“Since he (Tinubu) is unable then he should resign. Take for example, Tinubu went to Jos to sympathize with the people of Plateau State who suffered insecurity attack, what did the president say, the airport has no light so in the next 10 minutes he was going to leave, he didn’t even go to see the people at Jos airport.”

He faulted Tinubu’s refusal to visit Oyo State following the abduction of students and teachers in the state.

“Let me ask you, are you ready to lead your people, how many children are in captivity in Oyo State? The President was in Lagos, did he go to Ibadan? An American president will stand at the airport to receive one soldier that was slain at the war front,” he said.
