Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani has criticised the ongoing conflict involving Iran, describing it as an unjust war.
During a phone call with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, al-Sudani also expressed condolences over the death of Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
According to a statement from the Iraqi prime minister’s office, al-Sudani made it clear that Iraq “would not allow its territory to be used to launch attacks against Iran.”
He added that any strikes carried out within Iraq would be considered a violation of the country’s sovereignty.
The escalating war between Israel, the US, and Iran has now entered its tenth day, with all sides reporting casualties.
