The people of Edeaniagu clan in Ishi-Ozalla community, Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State say they will not participate in the purported planned Ofalla ceremony in the area slated for Monday, 29th December 2025.

Addressing newsmen in Enugu on Sunday, the President General of Edeanigu Clan, Chief Uchenna Nweke described the information circulating on social media platforms saying that Edeanigu Clan contributed one hundred thousand naira in support of the Offalla ceremony as laughable and  blatant lie from shadow chasers.

Nweke stated that Edeanigu people were not part of the process that produced any traditional ruler in Ishi-Ozalla and challenged the peddlers of the fake news to “make public the identity of the individual or group that made the payment on behalf of Edeanigu Clan”.

Also speaking, a member of Edeanigu royal cabinet, Chief Peter Agu explained that both the leadership of Edeanigu women and youth groups did not and will not contribute to the said Offalla celebration, warning “every of our sons and daughters should distance themselves equally to avoid the wrath of the gods.”

Another indigene of the area, Prof. Muna Nweke Okoye, while extolling the unique cultural and peaceful disposition of Edeanigu people, urged the government to approve the already certified Edeanigu Autonomous Community to ensure lasting peace in the area.

In a remark, HRM Don Sylvester Chinedu Nweke while wishing his people happy Christmas and a prosperous new year, urged the people to recommit themselves to the development of the community.
