Governor Umar Namadi has inaugurated a 36-member Jigawa State Tax Reform Domestication Committee.
The committee is chaired by Professor Hannatu Sabo Ahmad, the Honourable Commissioner of Finance.
Inaugurating the committee, Governor Umar Namadi said the committee is tasked with aligning the state’s tax system with the new Federal Tax Reform Framework.
The committee is expected to study the federal framework, identify areas suitable for domestication at the state level, and develop a practical implementation strategy and roadmap.
It will also propose necessary legislative and administrative adjustments while engaging key stakeholders, including the business community and civil society, to promote public awareness, understanding, and compliance with the new tax reforms.
The chairman of the Jigawa State Board of Internal Revenue, Nasiru Sabo Idris, described the inauguration of the Technical Committee on the Domestication of the New Tax Reform as a significant step towards implementing the new tax framework in the state.
