A Magistrate’s Court sitting in Kuje, Abuja, on Friday granted bail to activist Omoyele Sowore and a number of others who were arraigned before it by the police for taking part in the recent #ReleaseNnamdiKanuProtest.
Others who equally regained their freedom as the result of the bail ruling include Aloy Ejimakor, a member of the legal team representing the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu; the IPOB leader’s brother, Prince Emmanuel Kanu; and ten others.
Each defendant was granted bail in the sum of ₦500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

The thirteen defendants were charged with inciting public disturbance and breaching the peace following their involvement in the #FreeNnamdiKanuNow protest, which took place in Abuja on Monday, October 20.
While Ejimakor, Emmanuel Kanu, and ten others were arrested during the protest and subsequently remanded at the Kuje Correctional Centre, Sowore was arrested three days later, on October 23, at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where he had attended Kanu’s terrorism trial to express solidarity.
