According to the statement, the operations were carried out by officers of the Special Intervention Squad (SIS) and the Gezawa Police Division following credible information provided by members of the public.

In one of the operations, two suspects, Abdulsalam Muhammad and Murtala Sani, were apprehended along Nassarawa GRA. Police said they were caught with a Bagco sack suspected to contain illegal drugs.

During questioning, one of the suspects reportedly admitted that the sack contained Tramadol supplied by accomplices who are currently on the run.

A further search of the sack led to the discovery of 23 rolls of Tramadol, each containing 10 packs.

The statement partly read: “On May 23, 2026, at about 5:25 p.m., operatives of the Special Intervention Squad, acting on credible intelligence, arrested two suspects along Nassarawa GRA, Kano.

“The suspects were found in possession of a Bagco sack suspected to contain illicit drugs. Upon interrogation, one of them confessed that the substance was Tramadol given to him by two accomplices who are still at large.”
