KEDCO announces another reduction in power supply to Kano, Jigawa, Katsina

The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) has announced that power supply to Kano, Jigawa, and Katsina States has dropped further to an average of 130 megawatts (MW).

The update was contained in a statement by KEDCO spokesperson, Sani Bala Sani.

According to the statement, KEDCO said this reduced supply is not enough to meet the needs of all customers, causing more load shedding and power outages in the area.

“The drop in electricity is due to a problem on the Shiroro–Kaduna transmission line that happened early Monday morning. This added to an earlier fault on the Uguaji–Makurdi–Jos lines, which had already lowered power supply from over 300MW to 167MW,” the statement read in part.

The KEDCO management however assured customers that it is working closely with the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to fix the problem and restore normal power supply as soon as possible.

The company apologized for the inconvenience caused by the ongoing power shortages.
