The Lagos State Government has mandated all hospitality operators — including hotels, event centres, and nightclubs — to secure formal approvals from the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA) and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) for proper parking and traffic control.
This directive was contained in a joint statement issued by LASPA General Manager, Adebisi Adelabu, and LASTMA General Manager, Bakare-Oki Olalekan, at the Parking Authority’s office on Thursday.
According to the statement, the move became necessary to curb indiscriminate parking and traffic congestion caused by hospitality businesses across Lagos.

“The General Managers charged owners of hospitality businesses operating in Lagos to ensure compliance with the State Parking and Traffic regulations by registering and getting the approvals of both the Parking Authority and LASTMA or face prosecution according to the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Laws 2018,” the statement read.
It noted that LASPA and LASTMA, operating under the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, are working in partnership to keep the state free from traffic bottlenecks and to promote safer, smoother roads.
The statement stressed that LASPA is responsible for proper parking management while LASTMA oversees traffic regulation. Although their mandates differ, both agencies “work harmoniously towards the actualisation of the State Government’s agenda in traffic management and transportation.”
