The Lagos State Government has disclosed that no fewer than 28,000 trucks have been registered on the Lekki-Epe electronic call-up system introduced to regulate truck movement along the corridor.

The Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, revealed this on Thursday during a stakeholders’ meeting involving the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, terminal operators, transport unions and other industry players.

Osiyemi noted that despite the growing number of registrations, some truck operators were still accessing the Lekki-Epe corridor without obtaining approval through the electronic call-up platform.

He warned that the government would soon begin strict enforcement to ensure full compliance with the system.

The meeting, attended by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transportation, Olawale Musa, was convened to assess the progress and challenges associated with the implementation of the E-Call-Up system around the Dangote Refinery, Lekki Free Zone and Lekki Deep Sea Port corridor.

Providing updates on the compliance level, the consultant handling the E-Call-Up project disclosed that about 11,000 transport operators had registered on the platform, while approximately 28,000 trucks had so far been captured in the system.

Among those present at the meeting were the General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, Olalekan Bakare-Oki; Director of Transport Operations, Engr. Olasunkanmi Ojowuro; officials of NUPENG; terminal operators; E-Call-Up consultants; directors from the Ministry of Transportation; and other stakeholders in the transport sector.

The Lagos State Government had commenced enforcement of the electronic call-up system for tankers and articulated vehicles operating along the Lekki-Epe corridor in 2025.

The initiative was introduced to prevent the kind of traffic gridlock previously experienced in Apapa by replacing indiscriminate truck parking with a coordinated technology-driven scheduling process.

Under the system, truck operators are required to register online, upload their “Authority to Load” documents and wait for electronic clearance before gaining access to the Lekki-Epe axis.
