Inter Miami captain Lionel Messi has singled out two of his teammates, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, for special praise after the MLS Cup 3-1 win over Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday.
The Argentine forward thanked both Spaniards for joining him in achieving their goal at Inter Miami this year.
Alba and Busquets were playing the final match of their careers against Vancouver, and Messi said he was delighted to help the duo end their careers with a trophy.
In a post on Instagram, Messi said: “WE ARE MLS CHAMPIONS!!! Ever since I arrived in Miami, I dreamed about this day.
“Thanks to my family and all the fans for the support, to the whole team, the staff and the management of Inter Miami CF for the ambition and the work they put in.
“And thank you, Busi and Jordi, for joining me on this adventure and closing it in the best way possible. It also makes me very happy to share this with you.”
