A mom has opened up about her 3-year-old son's preterm birth. Jordyn Allison gave birth to her son at 25 weeks, weighing 2lbs 8 oz. He spent 17 weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and was brought home at 42 weeks, weighing 8 lbs. Reflecting on her son's remarkable journey, Jordyn said his survival was nothing short of a miracle. No matter what you believe in.. God, a higher power, the universe, fate, science, medicine, or simply the strength of the human spirit, I will always believe that something greater than myself helped carry my baby through, she wrote. "There were moments of fear, uncertainty, and prayers whispered into the dark. There were doctors, nurses, medical advances, support from loved ones, and so many things that came together at exactly the right time. However you choose to see it, I am endlessly grateful. "Looking at my baby now, I cant help but see a miracle. Not because everyones definition of a miracle is the same, but because against all the worry and challenges we faced, he is here, growing, smiling, and reminding me every day how precious life truly is. "This journey has taught me that hope can come from many places, and that love is something we can all believe in. "Whatever faith, beliefs, or understanding of the world you hold, I hope this story reminds you that sometimes incredible things happen, and they deserve to be celebrated. My baby is my miracle, and I will never stop being thankful for everyone and everything that helped bring him to this moment. #miracle #NICU.
