NGX: Investors gain N733bn to close week in green zone

Investors in the Nigerian equities market gained N733 billion at the close of trading on Friday.

This followed the surge in the share prices of stocks such as Aso Savings & Loans, Ikeja Hotels Plc, and Regal Insurance, among others, on the trading floor.

The benchmark All-Share Index (ASI) surged to 155,645.05 points from the 154,489.90 points recorded the previous day.

After five hours of trading at the capital market, the equity capitalisation increased to N98.7 trillion from N98 trillion posted by the bourse on Thursday.

The market breadth was positive with 34 stocks advancing, 25 stocks declining, and 87 stocks remaining unchanged in 29,989 deals.

An aggregate of 1,211,625,452 units of shares was traded, valued at N31.4bn

Aso Savings & Loans, Ikeja Hotels Plc, and Regal Insurance led other gainers with 10%, 7.89% and 7.44% growth each in share prices to close at N0.66, N20.50, and N1.30 from the previous N0.60, N19.00, and N1.21 per share.

Union Dicon Salt Plc, Neimeth, and Cornerstone Insurance led other price decliners with a 9.09%, 6.67%, and 5.61% dip in share price to close at N8.00, N5.60, and N6.23 per share, down from the previous N8.80, N6.00, and N6.60 per share.

On the volume index, Fidelity Bank Plc led trading with 820 million shares in 551 deals, followed by Sovereign Insurance Plc, which traded 45 million shares in 212 deals.

Tantalizers traded 32 million shares in 79 deals.

On the value index, Fidelity Bank Plc traded stocks valued at N16.1 billion in 551 deals, followed by Aradel Holding, which traded equities worth N3.6 billion in 1, 397 deals.

Guaranty Trust Holding Plc traded shares valued at N1.7 billion in 1, 074 deals.
