The Boys Brigade of Nigeria, Niger State Council, has called on federal and state governments to expedite action to ensure safe of over 200 students from St Mary’s Catholic Missionary School Papiri in Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State, who remain in captivity.

The President of the Boys Brigade of Nigeria, Niger council, Jonathan Vatsa made this appeal in Minna during this year’s concert for 150 Trumpeters of the Boys Brigade with the theme: “Worship the King of Kings” at St. Andrew’s Anglican Church Minna Niger..

With Christmas just three weeks away, he appealed to both the state and federal governments to expedite efforts to secure the safe release of the abducted students.

Vatsa who was a former commissioner for Information Culture and Tourism in the state said, ” It will be heartbreaking for the parents if the children are allowed to spend their Christmas in captivity. We are all parents, and we know what it means,” Vatsa said, urging authorities to fast-track the rescue mission.

He also highlighted the importance of the trumpet concert, noting that it serves as a platform to instill moral discipline in youths, who form the core of the Boys Brigade.

The former commissioner for Information linked the rising cases of crime, insurgency, and banditry in the country to a lack of proper moral upbringing, stressing that engaging youths in positive activities keeps them away from evil.

Vatsa explained that the theme was chosen to reflect the current challenges, encouraging them to seek God’s intervention through praise and worship.

“We need to go back and seek his intervention. And you can do that through praise and worship”, he added.

The concert marked the culmination of the Boys Brigade’s 2025 activities, with participation from all 25 local government areas of Niger State.
