
The Niger State Commissioner of Police, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, has decorated 414 officers newly promoted from the rank of Inspector to Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP II) in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun at the Command Headquarters, Dutsen-Kura, Minna in the presence of senior officers, family members and invited guests, the CP congratulated the beneficiaries,
He noted that they were among 26,000 inspectors nationwide elevated to the rank of ASP II by the Police Service Commission (PSC), following a successful evaluation during the recently conducted Departmental Selection Board (DSB).
He described the promotion as both a reward for dedication and a call to higher responsibility, emphasizing that advancement in rank remains one of the greatest motivations for officers in the Force.
While welcoming them into the senior cadre, the CP reminded the newly promoted officers that “to whom much is given, much more is expected.”
He also charged them to conduct themselves with the highest level of discipline, commitment, and professionalism befitting their new status, stressing that leadership, integrity, and accountability must define their service going forward.
The CP further reminded the officers, ” the first two years in the rank of ASP II will constitute a probationary period, during which your performance and capabilities will be assessed before confirmation to the rank of ASP I”.
He urged them to remain focused, dedicated, and exemplary in the discharge of their duties.
Among those decorated were ASP Sule Usman, ASP Lafiyagi Umar, ASP Habila Abu, ASP Ernest Ekhator, ASP Perpetual Terungwa, ASP Sallah Obadiah, ASP Jane Mathew, ASP Sunday Hosea, ASP Oodo Obekpa, ASP Saratu Bulus, ASP Rakiya Gambo, ASP Aliyu Yakubu, ASP Lawrence Mowette, ASP Edache John, ASP Ibrahim Istifanus, ASP Bello Adamu, ASP Apochi Anthony, ASP Deborah Daniel, ASP Lohya Emmanuel, ASP Sonfada Ibrahim, ASP Esther Philip, and ASP Muhammad Salisu.
Responding on behalf of the newly promoted officers, ASP Sunday Hosea, expressed gratitude to God and appreciated the Police Service Commission, the Inspector General of Police, and the Commissioner of Police for finding them worthy of the elevation.
He assured the command of their continued dedication, commitment, and improved performance in service to the nation.
