Nigeria now hunger hot-spot in Africa under Tinubu – Atiku

Atiku Abubakar, former vice president, has said Nigeria has transformed from being a giant of Africa to a hunger hot spot.

He disclosed this in a statement by his spokesperson Phrank Shaibu on Monday.

He was reacting to the United Nations’ report, which showed that 35 million Nigerians could face acute hunger from next month.

According to Atiku, the UN’s report indicates a ‘catastrophic failure of the Tinubu administration.’

“This is not just another alarming statistic to be debated on television panels and forgotten by the next news cycle. This is a human tragedy of terrifying proportions.

“That is more than the population of many African countries,” he stated.

“This is not a famine caused by drought. This is not a war-induced collapse. This is not an earthquake or a natural catastrophe.

“This is man-made suffering,” he added.

Recall that Nigeria’s headline and food inflation dropped in April to 15.69 percent and 16.06 percent, according to the National Bureau of Statistics’ April consumer price index and inflation report.
