Nigeria vs. Jordan: “I made mistake’ – Iwobi breaks silence, issues heartfelt apology over reckless red card

Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has publicly admitted fault and apologized for his late-game red card during Nigeria’s 2-2 friendly draw against Jordan on March 31.

Iwobi saw red following a heated retaliation after being held back by Jordan’s Amer Jamous during the clash in Turkey.

Reflecting on the incident, the former Arsenal man owned up to his lapse in judgment, calling his behaviour unacceptable.

“I need to address what I did and apologise to all my Nigerian teammates, staff, and everyone who cares about Nigeria. My actions were not good enough, and I got sent off,” Iwobi stated on the Alexander Yaa Digg podcast.

“But I will learn from this and keep moving on. We got a draw, we did not lose, so we will take the positives.

“I want to apologise for the mistake,” the Fulham star added.
