1. President Bola Tinubu on Sunday night arrived in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates to participate in the 2026 edition of the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW 2026), a global forum dedicated to advancing sustainable development. The President arrived the UAE capital at about 11:30pm local time and was received on arrival by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan.
2. The National Association of Resident Doctors has suspended its planned nationwide strike following what it described as significant progress recorded on its demands through sustained engagements with the Federal Government and other key stakeholders. The decision was taken at a virtual Emergency National Executive Council meeting held, where the association reviewed the status of its demands and assessed recent developments.
3. A major fire has broken out at the Ogun Free Trade Zone in Igbesa, Ogun State, destroying a factory and extending into nearby residential areas. The incident reportedly began around midnight and continued into the early hours of Sunday morning before emergency responders succeeded in containing the blaze.
4. Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has replied to the people calling for his sack, saying, it is within the right of President Bola Tinubu to do so if he so wished. Wike stated this on Sunday, during a “thank you” visit to his Local Government Area, Obio-Akpor, in Rivers, stressing that since 1999, the people have not disappointed him.

The Rivers State House of Assembly has raised the alarm over what it described as a plot by some persons linked to the executive arm to procure a court order stopping it from performing its functions. In a statement on Sunday, Chairman, House Committee on Information, Petitions and Complaints, Dr Enemi Alabo George, said the plot was to get the ex parte order from the state High Court operating outside Port Harcourt, the state capital.
6. Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, says what the state needs most at the moment is peace, mocking detractors that “dogs bark when they don’t understand”. Fubara said this at St. Cyprian’s Anglican Church in Port Harcourt, during the Inter-Denominational Church Service in commemoration of the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day.
7. Defence Minister, General Christopher Musa, retd, has said Nigeria was currently facing trial as a result of the myriads of security challenges across multiple fronts but assured that the nation would overcome. The minister stated this just as a clergyman, Most Rev. Uche Dan Okafor, appealed to members of the armed forces of Nigeria not to think of toppling democratically elected government in Nigeria like their counterparts in other West African countries.
8. Bandits, suspected armed herders, have killed a soldier and an officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps at Udeku community in the Turan district of the Kwande Local Government Area of Benue State. The incident, which occurred at the weekend was confirmed by a community leader from the troubled area, Mr. Lawrence Akerigba, who said the attack had forced scores of residents to flee the community.

The Kogi State Police Command has said that scores of bandits were neutralised and their networks dismantled during a fresh security operation, although the exact location of the exercise was not disclosed. In a statement issued on Sunday, the Command’s spokesperson, William Aya, said the success was recorded in an ongoing joint operation involving the police and the military, with support from the Nigeria Police Force Air Wing.
10. The Sokoto State Police Command has confirmed that two currency exchange dealers were killed when suspected bandits attacked the Durusar Gawo currency market in Kurdula District, Gudu Local Government Area of the state. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Ahmad Rufa’i, said the attackers arrived around midday on Sunday and opened fire on traders, killing one person instantly, while the second victim later died at Dogon Dutse Hospital.
