The National Security Adviser (NSA), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, hosted a high-profile United States Congressional delegation in Abuja on Sunday, signaling Nigeria’s unwavering commitment to strengthening its strategic security partnership with the U.S.
The visit, which follows recent high-level meetings in Washington, D.C., was aimed at advancing shared security priorities between the two nations. Ribadu affirmed that the engagement underscored the importance both Nigeria and the U.S. attach to cooperation on security and regional stability.
The NSA provided details of the meeting on his official X-Handle, outlining the focus of the discussions.
“This morning, I received a U.S. Congressional delegation on a fact-finding mission to Nigeria, following our earlier engagements in Washington, D.C., on shared security priorities,” Ribadu wrote.

He specified the key agenda items covered during the session: “The discussions focused on counter-terrorism cooperation, regional stability, and strengthening the Nigeria–U.S. strategic security partnership.”
The visiting delegation comprised several prominent U.S. representatives, including Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart, Rep. Norma Torres, Rep. Scott Franklin, Rep. Juan Ciscomani, and Rep. Riley Moore, alongside the U.S. Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Richard Mills.
Ribadu concluded his remarks by expressing confidence that the high-level meeting would soon translate into more robust collaboration and mutual trust.
“I’m optimistic this engagement will deepen trust, collaboration, and our shared commitment to peace and security,” he added.
