The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested eight suspects in connection with an attack on its outpost at Koraman Nayalli, Katsina metropolis.

The command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Buhari Hamisu, confirmed the arrests on Monday.

Hamisu said the incident occurred on Sunday when a group of miscreants protested a recent raid that led to the death of a suspected drug peddler, identified as Uzairu, also known as ‘Dan Kuda’.

According to him, the attackers stormed the NSCDC outpost located at Koraman Nayalli in Sabuwar Unguwa quarters and set the building ablaze.

“During the attack, three motorcycles and other items belonging to the outpost were burnt,” Hamisu said.

He added that the assailants, armed with dangerous weapons, also attempted to attack nearby NSCDC and police outposts at Filin Kanada.

Hamisu said operatives of the NSCDC Special Response Squad, in collaboration with the police, were able to contain the situation and restore normalcy.

The PRO disclosed that the State Commandant of NSCDC, Abbas Moriki, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident.

He said the commandant conducted an on-the-spot assessment of the damaged outpost and constituted a seven-member committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Hamisu added that investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other suspects involved in the incident.
