The Ondo State Police Command has begun an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the mysterious disappearance of a guest who went missing while lodging at a hotel in Akure. The man, identified as Olaloye Olatunde, traveled from Owo on Sunday, August 24, 2025, to participate in a Child Labour programme. The week-long training brought together approximately 56 participants and was held at Sunview Hotel in Alagbaka, Akure. According to a family member who wished to remain anonymous, Olatunde was in regular contact with his family from Monday to Wednesday during the programme. However, attempts to reach him on Friday, August 29, were unsuccessful as his phone was reportedly turned off. His wife grew increasingly worried when her calls went unanswered. When relatives visited the Hotel to make enquiries, they were shocked to find that while other participants had checked out, Olatundes belongings such as clothes, shoes and other personal effects were still in his room. They took photographs of the abandoned items as evidence. This unsettling discovery has left relatives distressed and uncertain about Olatundes fate, prompting them to report the situation to the police. The spokesman of the command, Alayande Olushola, who confirmed the development stated that the matter had been reported, and the commands Anti-Kidnapping Unit had launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the mans sudden disappearance.
