The former Benue State governor, Samuel Ortom, said on Saturday he would not vie for any elective position in the 2027 general elections.
Ortom made the clarification in a statement signed by his Media Adviser/Consultant, Terver Akase, in Makurdi.
There were reports on social media that Ortom has declared his intention to contest for the Benue North-West Senatorial seat in 2027.
He said: “I have no intention whatsoever to contest any elective office in 2027. I have said this clearly, publicly, and repeatedly.
“I expect that a position stated this plainly would not require translation or creative reinterpretation,” he said.
