Oyo Abduction: Why insecurity is increasing – Makinde [VIDEO]

2 weeks ago 14

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo has attributed the increased spate of insecurity in his state to the lack of arms for the state’s official vigilante corps, Amotekun.

Makinde alleged that the regional security outfit has not been adequately armed.

The Governor made the claims while addressing protesters who stormed the streets of Ibadan.

DAILY POST reports that VeryDarkMan on Tuesday, led a protest in Ibadan, demanding the release of kidnapped schoolchildren and teachers.

This came following weeks of heightened suspicion directed at the community in the wake of the abduction of over 40 students and teachers in Oriire local government area of the state.

“Security was one of the cardinal principles of this administration. That’s why we set up Amotekun. It has not been adequately armed. That is our reality now.

“But let me give you the assurance that we are going to win the war against insecurity in Oyo state and bring the abducted victims home,” Makinde said.
