In the wave of defections that swept Adamawa State on Friday, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Hamza Bello Madagali, has resigned both from his position and from the party.

Other members of his Executive Committee joined him in the decision, leaving the PDP to join the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The PDP leadership announced the defections on Friday evening, following in the footsteps of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, who had formally announced his own defection earlier in the day.

During a press briefing at the PDP Secretariat in Yola, Hamza Madagali said his decision was taken after wide consultations and in the best interest of Adamawa State.

Madagali, a kinsman of Governor Fintiri, resigned alongside the entire State Executive Committee, which includes all PDP chairmen across the 21 local government areas of the state.

He emphasised that their defection aims to align with the current political direction of Governor Fintiri and to ensure unity and stability in the state’s political landscape.
