Former Anambra State Governor, Mr Peter Obi has expressed condolences to the Nigerian military and the police following the killing of security personnel during a recent attack in Yobe State.

The development was disclosed in a statement posted on Obi’s official page.

According to the statement, Obi mourned the death of 17 police officers, alongside an unspecified number of soldiers during an attack on a military school in Yobe State.

He described the incident as a national tragedy, stating that the loss of security personnel continues to affect families and communities across the country.

“Every security personnel killed is a tragedy to our nation. Every fallen officer represents a family thrown into grief,” Obi stated.

The former governor also called on the Federal Government to provide compensation, support and long-term welfare for families of security personnel who lost their lives in the line of duty.

He further stressed the need for urgent action in addressing insecurity across the country, urging authorities to tackle the situation with what he described as sincerity, professionalism and political will.

“To the families of the fallen heroes, I offer my deepest and most heartfelt sympathies,” the statement added.
