
Operatives of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a suspect, Johnson Daniel, for allegedly stabbing his friend, Ariyo Amos Timilehin, to death in Owo, Owo Local Government Area of the state.
According to reports, the two young men were close associates and were often seen together within their neighbourhood in Owo before the tragic incident occurred.
Police authorities disclosed that preliminary investigations revealed that Timilehin was allegedly stabbed during a disagreement with Daniel.
The victim was subsequently rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The spokesperson of the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Saturday in Akure.
“The command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in connection with the alleged murder of Ariyo Amos Timilehin following a violent altercation in Owo on March 6, 2026,” Jimoh said.
“Timilehin was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Owo, where he was confirmed dead on arrival by a medical doctor.
“Police detectives visited the scene and recovered the knife suspected to have been used in the attack, while the suspect has been arrested.
“The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.”
Jimoh added that the Ondo State Police Command sympathises with the family of the deceased and urged members of the public to refrain from resolving disagreements through violence.
