Police arrests 7 suspected armed robbers, others in Ogun

Police operatives in Ogun have arrested seven suspects for various crimes in the state.

The suspects were arrested in various parts of the state for alleged armed robbery, housebreaking, stealing, conspiracy, and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace.

The spokesman for the state police command, Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement on Friday in Abeokuta.

Babaseyi said the arrests were made during coordinated intelligence-driven operations carried out by operatives in the Sango-Ota, Owode-Egba, and Agbado Divisions.

He said operatives of the Sango-Ota Division arrested three suspects identified as Pelumi Akintonde (21), Mojeed Sanusi (28) and Mubarak Lateef (17) for alleged armed robbery incident in Alasia community.

According to him, the suspects allegedly participated in an attack on a resident during which valuables were forcefully taken.

He said a locally fabricated cut-to-size pistol and an expended cartridge were recovered from the suspects, adding that efforts were ongoing to arrest other members of the gang still at large.

“Operatives of the Owode-Egba Division arrested Damilare Makanjuola (22) in connection with an alleged house breaking and theft in Ofada.

”Preliminary investigation linked the suspect to other reported burglary incidents within Sun City Estate, Ofada, where electrical appliances, cash and other valuables were allegedly stolen,” he stated.
