The Niger State Police Command has dismissed reports alleging that schools in Bosso, Kpakungu, Sabon-Wuse and Lambata were attacked by hoodlums, describing the claims as false and misleading.

A statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said the Command conducted visits to all the schools mentioned in the reports and confirmed that no such incident occurred in any of the affected areas.

The Command urged members of the public to disregard the information, noting that it was likely circulated by mischief makers with the intention of creating panic and fear among residents and within school communities.

According to the statement, intelligence investigations have commenced to identify the source of the false reports and bring those responsible to justice.

The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, had earlier directed Divisional Police Officers, DPOs, to strengthen collaboration with school administrators as part of ongoing school protection initiatives.

He also assured that police visibility patrols around schools would continue to ensure the safety of students, staff and surrounding communities.

The Command advised residents to report any suspicious activity or security concerns through its emergency lines: 0703 196 4389, 0803 223 3454, and 0916 880 2621.
