The Nigeria Police have dismissed a viral video being linked to the recent abduction of school children and teachers in Oyo State, describing the footage as misleading.

The clarification was contained in a statement posted on the official page of the Nigeria Police Force.

According to the statement, the video did not originate from Nigeria and is unrelated to the recent incident involving the abduction of pupils and teachers in Oyo State.

The police stated that the footage was being circulated with false claims capable of creating panic and spreading misinformation among members of the public.

“This video is unrelated to the incident and is being used to spread misinformation and cause unnecessary panic,” the statement read.

The Force further disclosed that security agencies have intensified rescue operations through additional intelligence and operational deployments aimed at securing the safe return of the victims.

The police also urged the public to rely on verified information and avoid sharing unconfirmed or misleading content online.
