
Operatives of the Ondo State Police at the weekend rescued two victims who were abducted by gunmen suspected to be kidnappers in the state.
The victims were kidnapped within the Eleyewo axis in the Akure North Local Government Area of the state while working on a site.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Jimoh Abayomi, disclosed that the suspected kidnappers stormed the site where some persons identified as Adesola Emiloye, 45; Jimoh Akinlolu, 35; and Ebenezer Oloro, 43, as well as one unidentified person, were working.
According to Abayomi, two of the victims were captured by the kidnappers, while the other two escaped into the bush.
The police spokesperson stated that tactical teams of the command were promptly deployed upon the receipt of a distress call, adding that the motorcycles belonging to the victims were recovered.
He said, “Concerted efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining victims and apprehend the perpetrators of the crime. Against this backdrop, the Ondo State Police Command reiterates unequivocally that Ondo State has never been and will never be a safe haven for criminal elements.
“As consistently demonstrated, criminals operating within the State will always be identified, tracked, and brought to justice. Commending the operatives for their prompt and decisive response, the Commissioner described their actions as professional and commendable, noting that they reflect the Command’s enhanced operational capacity for timely response to security incidents.”
