A celebrated traditional singer and comedian, John Zuya, widely known as John Mai Molo, has reportedly died under mysterious circumstances in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi State.
Zuya, acclaimed for his humorous stage performances and culturally rich songs, was said to have taken ill shortly after eating a meal on his return from Lagos, where he had recently performed at an event.
According to eyewitness accounts, the entertainer suddenly began showing signs of distress and later collapsed. He was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH) in Bauchi, where doctors confirmed him dead on arrival. His remains have been deposited at the hospital’s morgue for an autopsy to determine the actual cause of death.
Confirming the incident, a fellow artist and close associate of the deceased, Emma Wakili, announced the passing of Zuya in a Facebook post on Sunday morning.
“It is confirmed that John Zuya passed on this morning at 7:00 a.m. His body has been placed in the mortuary as we move forward with the investigation,” Wakili wrote.
Zuya’s sudden death has sparked shock and grief among fans and colleagues in the entertainment industry.
