Popular Kannywood actor, Malam Nata’ala passes away

A popular Kannywood actor, Mato Na Mato, also known as Malam Nataala, has passed away after a protracted illness.  Malam Nataala, a native of Potiskum in Yobe State, is known for prominent role as almajiri school teacher in a popular Arewa24 Hausa drama series, Dadin Kowa.  Sadly, the actor became ill and made an appeal online seeking financial help to settle his medical bills. His online posts drew the attention of Nigers President, General Abdourahamane Tchiani, who supported him N27 million. Yobe State Governor Alhaji Dr. Mai Mala Buni also donated 2 million to help with the actors medical treatment.  In August 2025, Nataala publicly thanked Buni. He also thanked other Yobe State politicians who have provided assistance.  He also disclosed his cancer battle, stating: Its cancer that Im suffering from. Last year, I had surgery at the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital, but unfortunately, the cancer wasnt completely removed.
