The Senator representing Plateau Central Senatorial District, Diket Plang has failed to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket for the 2027 election.
The senatorial district comprises Kanke, Pankshin, Kanam, Bokkos and Mangu Local Government Areas of Plateau State.
The lawmaker lost the APC primaries conducted across the five LGAs that make up his zone
The Returning Officer for the district, Sadat Garga, announced the results of the polls on Tuesday in Pankshin.

He declared Mr. David Barji as the winner of the APC senatorial primary election.
Garga said Barji scored 57,727 to defeat Plang, who polled 1,423 votes.
“By the powers conferred on me as the returning officer, I hereby declare Mr David Barji as the winner of the APC primary for Plateau central senatorial district,”he stated.
Garga explained that the primary was observed by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
