Nigerian afro-house singer, Niniola Apata, has announced the passing of her husband, Michael Ndika.

The Grammy-nominated artiste made the announcement in a series of emotional posts shared on her Instagram story in the early hours of Wednesday.

Ndika, who served as the Chief Executive Officer of NaijaReview, a multimedia platform focused on Afro-house and contemporary African music, reportedly died, although details surrounding his death have not been made public.

In one of her posts, Niniola simply wrote, “God took him.”

In another, she stated, “My husband died.”

In a further emotional message, she added, “God took him. 13 years. 13 f***ing years,” alongside photos of the couple.

The singer has not disclosed further details regarding the circumstances of his passing, maintaining a largely private personal life away from public attention and social media exposure.

Niniola, 39, gained national attention after emerging as one of the standout contestants on Project Fame West Africa in 2013, a breakthrough that launched her into the Nigerian music industry.

She has since established herself as one of the country’s leading Afro-house voices, with her 2017 hit single Maradona earning international recognition and attracting attention from global music figures including DJ Snake, Drake, Timbaland and Beyoncé.
