Single dad shares emotional story after moms refused to let their daughters attend his child’s slumber party

A single father has gone viral after sharing how a simple plan to throw his daughter a slumber party left him heartbroken. In the video, the dad, identified as Mark Anthony, explained that he wanted to host a fun sleepover for his daughter but since no woman lives in his household, he reached out to one of the mothers for help coordinating with other parents. According to him, before he could even finish explaining, the woman cut him off and said flat out, No, I dont feel comfortable with that at all. When he asked if it was because hes a man, she said yes. Mark said he respected her honesty but admitted it left him deeply hurt. It really did make me feel some type of way, he said. I wasnt angry I was just sad. Because I would never hurt a child. I just wanted to give my daughter a normal experience. He explained that he even tried to talk about it with other women, and while they told him to understand where the mother was coming from, the rejection still stung. The father then revealed a painful part of his past that he was sexually abused as a child by a woman and that experience made him vow never to harm a child. It happened to me, he said, and I would never do that to anybodys child. But to know that I cant even throw my daughter a slumber party because Im a man... that really broke me. The clip has since sparked a heated debate online. Some commenters empathized with him, saying society often labels men unfairly, even when theyre loving and responsible fathers. One user wrote: Its sad that as a father, you have to deal with a stereotype that assumes youre a threat. Your feelings are valid. Others, however, argued that the mothers caution was understandable. Its not a label, one person said. Its just not something a single father should do for your own protection. Maybe let a grandma or aunt host it instead. Another user added, Hes not trying to be weird; he just wants his daughter to have normal experiences. People are missing the point. Mark later captioned his post: When I found out why I couldnt throw my daughter a slumber party, I got very sad and depressed.
