The Sokoto State Hisbah Board has arrested 17 persons during raids on suspected hubs of immoral activities in different parts of the state capital.

According to a statement issued by the board on Sunday, May 24, 2026, the operation was carried out under the ongoing “Operation Tsaftace Birnin Shehu” campaign aimed at sanitising the state.

The statement said the acting Commander of the Sokoto State Hisbah Board and Director of Da’awa, Imam Sirajo Abubakar, led the operation.

The raids were conducted in the Minannata, Rijiyar Shehu, Majema, Sokoto Silame, and Mabera areas of Sokoto metropolis.

The board said the exercise was part of efforts to curb activities considered immoral and contrary to the cultural and legal values of the state.

Authorities, however, did not disclose the identities of those arrested or whether charges would be filed against them.
